Forward bookings for U.S. arrivals in July are down 13% from the previous year. According to data from OAG Aviation, there is a persistent drop that extends past spring. OAG is a multinational travel data provider based in Luton, England.

In May, the National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO) reported a 4.4% decline in Western European travel to the United States. The United States is currently experiencing a US$50 billion annual travel trade deficit instead of a US$3.5 billion surplus in 2022, according to the U.S. Travel Association.

Bookings for the future indicate that there will likely be long-term drops. Airlines are reducing prices for flights over the Atlantic to draw in budget-conscious Americans, as Europeans are reluctant to visit the United States.
