Nvidia has been charged by China with violating the country’s anti-monopoly laws. The announcement coincides with trade negotiations between the United States and China taking place in Madrid, led by Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng and U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
China began investigating Nvidia in December 2024, though its market regulator has not disclosed details of the alleged violations. Authorities stated, however, that the probe will continue. The move is widely seen as the latest response in the ongoing U.S.–China dispute over the semiconductor industry.
The United States has largely restricted the export of critical AI-related technology and equipment to China. In a press release, Nvidia said it will continue working with all relevant government agencies to evaluate how export controls affect competition in commercial markets.
