The execution by firing squad of former U.S. Army psychiatrist Nidal Malik Hasan will no longer be livestreamed. President Donald Trump
announced the decision following intense domestic and international
criticism.
On November 5, 2009, Hasan opened fire inside a crowded medical
facility at the Fort Hood Army base in Texas while soldiers were waiting for pre-deployment vaccinations and medical checks. He killed 13
unarmed military personnel and wounded 32 others.
In a post on Truth Social, President Trump confirmed that the execution will still proceed as scheduled on 3 December, 2026 and will be viewable by the victims' immediate family members if they wish to attend.
The original plan to broadcast the execution online triggered a major
political backlash against President Trump, raising severe concerns over streaming such violent content on the internet.
