In his first interview since taking office in May, Pope Leo XIV, the first American to hold the office, voiced "concern" for his own country.

The US portal "Crux" had an interview with Pope Leo XIV. Questions concerning women, sexuality, liturgy, synodality, and his relationship with the US government were addressed by Pope Leo. The Katholische Nachrichten-Agentur (KNA), in its own translation, documents various aspects of his pontificate.

Pope Leo stated that he would not participate in "partisan politics." According to the Pope, church leaders in the US should be the ones to initiate contact with the Trump administration.
