DryWired's Liquid Nanotint to be the first nano-insulation in a Federal building: 250,000 federal buildings, most with uninsulated glass

Windows are responsible for over 25% of the heat transfer in structures. According to the DOE, there are 50 billion square feet of uninsulated, single-pane glass in the U.S. along with 250,000 federal buildings, most with uninsulated glass.
In the past, the choices for companies and consumers to insulate glass were dark window film or changing out the panes to expensive Low-E coated. Nanotint provides a powerful insulating 3rd choice by offering high visible light transmission with strong IR blocking capabilities.

DryWired’s Liquid NanoTint thermal insulation coating for glass was selected by the Texas National Guard to be a part of the energy efficiency retrofits being performed on two of its readiness centers, in Weatherford, Texas and Terrell, Texas. This is the first usage of nano-insulation in a federal building.
ARPA announces the Single-pane, Highly Insulating, Efficient Lucid Designs (SHIELD) program
Recently, the U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) announced up to $30 million in funding for a new program focused on improving the energy efficiency of commercial and residential buildings. ARPA-E’s Single-pane Highly Insulating Efficient Lucid Designs (SHIELD) program seeks to reduce heat-loss for improved building efficiency by developing innovative materials that are both transparent and insulating to retrofit existing single-pane windows.

DryWired’s Liquid Nanotint provides a non-invasive and cost effective alternative to the installation of new windows capable of delivering year round energy savings in any type of climate. With a lifespan of more than 10 years, the coating provides total protection from the sun’s harmful UV rays and greatly reduces infrared heat transfer without compromising visible light transmission – effectively keeping indoor environments cooler in summer and preventing heat loss in the winter – and reducing the load on the HVAC systems.

Mitigating both radiant and conductive heat
Unlike dark window films, Liquid Nanotint has the ability to mitigate both radiant and conductive heat, reducing the load on HVAC systems in all climates while allowing buildings to benefit from the natural daylight gain. New liquid nanotechnology provides a clear, translucent shield against energy loss through the combination of solvent borne tin-oxide based nano-particles and an inorganic adhesive binder. Liquid NanoTint forms a 10 micron thick self-leveling clear coat that bonds directly to glass and polycarbonate surfaces. Unlike conventional window films and tints, Liquid NanoTint will not delaminate, crack, bubble or fade over time, lasting a minimum of 10 years.

Liquid NanoTint & Liquid NanoTint Clear
Liquid Nanotint is available in two versions. Nanotint, which provides 100% protection from UV, up to 95% protection from IR while allowing approx. 70% VLT and Nanotint Clear which provides 100% protection from UV, 80-85% protection from IR while maintaining approx. 90% VLT.

Painted nanotechnology as insulation
Applied like a paint, Liquid Nanotint provides a non-invasive and cost effective alternative to costly double pane windows while providing the same type of energy savings. The roll-on application makes it the practical choice for retrofitting existing inefficient glass without having to spend money on new energy efficient windows.
