We Are Family

 

You and I are a community of life in the age of the international global village, and the identification of family members has already crossed the boundaries of blood, race, nationality, and language. At the start of 2023, the independent international news media Global People Daily News (GPDN) produced a special online program called "We are family" (Global Premiere 2023/1/31 GMT 15:00), inviting friends from all over the world to share their families and stories, and presenting for friends from all over the world. With the blessing "Where there is a place to go is home, those who love are family," they pray for a prosperous new year, love, and peace in the world. 

 

Huang Zhengxian's family from Taiwan's Atayal tribe appeared in the program wearing traditional Atayal costumes. According to them, traditional Atayal costumes are mostly red, which represents the Atayal people's joyful, positive vitality. The clothing features two major totems: horizontal stripes and rhombus patterns.The horizontal stripes symbolize the tribe's acceptance of life's trials of good and evil as they cross the Rainbow Bridge at death. The rhombus patterns represent the ancestors' eyes, which advise offspring to do good deeds, respect living things, protect forests, be generous to share, and value other cultures.

 

Ye Sing Ho of Taiwan and Angel Gonzáles Sosa of Peru told the story of their 2016 encounterat Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Ye Sing Ho stated that after meeting Angel Gonzáles Sosa and his wife, Filiberta Ramos Auccapuclla, he had a broader perspective on the definition of family, no longer limited to blood relationship, and that he is Angel Gonzáles Sosa's family in Taiwan. "He is my son in Taiwan," Angel Gonzáles Sosa explained. Despite the brief encounter, he was happy to share the beauty of his family and hometown with Ye Sing Ho, and felt the kindness and compatibility of each other during the interaction, making them still care about and love each other like family.

 

On February 24, 2022, Ukraine and Russia went to war. According to the UN, over 7 million Ukrainian refugees have flooded into Europe. Zwahlen's Swiss family decided to help the refugees. According to Salomé Zwahlen, a special education teacher, the family provides members with safety and support, as well as a space for learning and sharing about good and bad times. When the Russian-Ukrainian war broke out, there was a sudden influx of immigrants, and they thought about how they could help those fleeing armed conflict on a family level.They seriously discussed the possibility of accepting refugees with the children.Despite having to leave their comfort zone, the children were able to empathize with the plight of others, give up their own space to learn to share, know the differences between themselves and others, and understand each other.

 

Danielle Blanchard, a Swiss grandmother, shared her life experience, including how she regained her confidence after a failed marriage and found happiness in her remarried life. Danielle Blanchard stated that life is full of ups and downs and that all of these challenges will cause us to grow. She hopes that everyone takes positive action and that everything will be fine.
