A lion has been photographed in Chad's Sena Oura National Park. They were thought to be extinct in the area until recently. It is described as a lovely lioness in her prime, apparently in good health.

A team of conservationists from the Government of Chad and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) in New York shared a photo of a lioness. The image was captured in February by a remote camera in the protected region. On April 20, it was released.

According to WCS, Sena Oura was subjected to cruelly organized lion poaching over a decade ago. Since 2004, no lions have been seen in Chad's Sena Oura National Park. The sighting boosts hope that endangered lions will make a comeback in Chad's National Park.
